The LAX Opening Proposal Negotiations Roadshow

The 8th (out of 14) dates of the "Opening Proposal Negotiations Roadshow Tour" at LAX draws 120 Flight Attendants

[05.03.09] --
Last weekend, 120 Flight Attendants from LAX, SFO, JFK, HNL, and ORD attended the Los Angeles stop of the Opening Proposal Negotiations Roadshow. Members reported to the Roadshow upon arrival from their flights, prior to their check-ins, and while on layover. Attendees also included F/As on Voluntary Furlough (including LAX F/A Barbara Allen, of Barbara Allen Photography, our Flight Attendant/Photographer), who all took the time to attend.

If you were unable to attend a Roadshow be sure to watch the Opening Proposal Roadshow video which was viewed by your flying partners at the start of each Roadshow date. Make sure you are up to date with all the information about our Section 6 Negotiations at take 26 minutes of your day to view the highly informative video.

Contract negotiations under the Railway Labor Act (RLA) often take years to conclude, but we can’t afford to wait. Our Contract gets us started earlier than usual and requires a strict timeline to move through the process so we can work for an On-Time Agreement as our Contract become amendable on January 7, 2010. If management doesn’t work with us to achieve an agreement by August 7, 2009, we will jointly petition the National Mediation Board to begin mediation. At that point the NMB takes over jurisdiction of the negotiations and decides when and where we will meet along with determining whether we are at an impasse in negotiations which ultimately leads to the 30-day cooling off period and a strike deadline.
