Two-Hour Picketing Event

PICKETING: 1100 to 1300

WORLDWIDE EVENTS AT OUR 14 BASES* WILL BE SCHEDULED. IF YOU'RE NOT BASED AT LAX, BE SURE TO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL (LEC) FOR DETAILS** & SPREAD THE WORD! April 6, 2010!

April 6, 2010 is the one-year date from the start of our negotiations. In August 2009, we filed a joint petition with the company to the National Mediation Board (NMB) to gain the assistance of a federal mediator in our negotiations with management. Our Contract requires this joint filing as part of the agreement to begin negotiations 9 months early (we officially started the process in April 2009), and continue to progress in support of reaching a new agreement.

WE ALL AGREE: The concessions we've taken to save our company were more than enough! First negotiations for improvement since 1996??!! It's time to take a stand and fight!!

• In the last 25 years we have only had the opportunity to negotiate for improvements twice. Under the Railway Labor Act (RLA), airline contracts DO NOT "EXPIRE" -- they remain in place throughout the negotiations process and beyond. Historically, the process is long because management has no incentive to agree to improvements in a new Contract.

THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN: Your involvement in negotiations becomes even more important at these AFA Informational Picketing Events on the ONE-YEAR DATE from the start of our negotiations (04/06/10). It is not only management who must recognize our Solidarity and collective commitment to achieve our goals, the NMB mediator must also recognize that UAL F/As stand 100% behind our negotiators. WE bring power to the table when we display our Solidarity and make it clear that our Negotiating Committee speaks for us to achieve the improvements contained in our Opening Proposal.

GET THE 411: If you have not yet signed up to be a part of F/A Negotiations Network (FANN), do so NOW to get the most current information about our negotiations first, and to take a leading role in improving your future. To sign up for the FANN, just send us an email! Ask yourself: What are you worth and what are you willing to do to make sure you get it?

IT'S A FACT: To get the best you must pay the best. We will do "Whatever It Takes!" and work with the mediator to achieve agreement that meets the needs of United Flight Attendants, and returns our airline to its preeminent status in the industry.

THIS IS AN OPEN EVENT: AFA FLIGHT ATTENDANTS AT UNITED SHOULD INVITE THEIR FAMILY, F/A COWORKERS, OTHER UNITED EMPLOYEES, FRIENDS, AND OTHER AIRLINE F/AS!!

• American Airlines F/A union (APFA) members have again committed to turn out for us as well. On 11/18/09, United AFA F/As showed up at airports across the U.S. in support of APFA Contract Negotiations. We thank them in advance for pledging their support for our negotiations.

* Events will be scheduled for the following United Airlines bases: Los Angeles (LAX), Las Vegas (LAS), San Francisco (SFO), Honolulu (HNL), Seattle (SEA), Denver (DEN), Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), Washington, DC (IAD), Boston (BOS), Tokyo-Narita (NRT), Hong Kong (HKG), London (LHR), Frankfurt (FRA)
