Dante Harris

President of AFA-CWA Council 12 - LAX

Dante was raised in a union household, and has been mentored in the labor movement most of his life.  His passion and motivation to advocate for issues facing working families started long before joining United as a Flight Attendant in 2000.

In the last 11 years, he has gained invaluable experience in many AFA positions including SFO Local Executive Council Secretary, SFO Grievance Chairperson, LAX Grievance Rep, LAX Government Affairs Rep, SFO Communications Chairperson, SFO Reserve Chairperson, and more.  He has represented LAX Flight Attendants in more than 80 Grievance Hearings and more than 250 in San Francisco over the years.  Dante has also completed many years of union training, seminars, and professional schooling that uniquely qualifies him to lead our local union.

Where there is Unity, You will find Strength!

Kimberly Burckhalter

Vice President of AFA-CWA Council 12 - LAX

Kimberly Burckhalter has been a proud United Airlines Flight Attendant and member of AFA-CWA for more than 20 years. She serves our Union and family of Flight Attendants, striving for changes that make our jobs safer, more fulfilling, and something that we all can continue to be proud of.  She believes that everything comes down to the people serving others on the “front lines”; those that are DIRECTLY related to the decisions made often without our input and insight.

Her record and years of service as a Union rep show that she does not shy away from sacrificing her time and dedication to help represent our Union and all of our valued members.

In addition to serving as the Vice-President & AFA Grievance Committee Chairperson for Local Executive Council 6, Kimberly also served in the Master Executive Council Office in various capacities.  She is excited to utilize her years of experience and her unending efforts to ensure the language in our contract is never misinterpreted or overlooked.  She is a voice for those that are unable to make the “noise” necessary to bring the attention to the issues important to all us.

John Palumbo

Secretary of AFA-CWA Council 12 - LAX

Most Flight Attendants know John as an International Purser and through that role, along with his previous Union leadership roles during the past 5 years as AFA Council 12 Representative and then Secretary.  John has volunteered for several Union projects over the years, but his passion is Flight Attendant Safety.  He has attended the MEC Safety, Health and Security training and serves as an advocate for the local Council 12 Safety, Health and Security Committee.  John also currently oversees the scheduling and membership/dues committees

John is dedicated to his leadership role at Council 12. His goal is to help unify our co-workers as we face the challenges of the implementation of our new Contract.  As the current Council 12 Secretary, he has the skills necessary to support our elected Officers and Members through the next phase of our careers.  John believes in the importance of officers who are loyal to the AFA organization and have a commitment to bringing us together by having those 1 on 1 conversations with our flying partners, educating them and stressing the importance of having a strong unified union.

Marina Bins

Council Representative

of AFA-CWA Council 12 - LAX

Marina has been a Flight Attendant for over 10 years.  She has volunteered as a Negotiations Support Activist and actively participated in Membership Engagement and Visibility days at the base supporting our fellow Union Sisters and Brothers.  She looks forward to taking her volunteerism to a higher level by getting more involved as an officer of Council 12.

Dante Harris has been mentoring and encouraging Marina to be more active in Union activities.  She is extremely excited to join such a diverse and experienced team.  Not only is she eager to learn but looks forward to helping her fellow flight attendants over the next 3 years as a Council Representative.  She is committed to listening to all members and representing everyone to the best of her ability.

Timothy Trueman

Council Representative

of AFA-CWA Council 12 - LAX

Timothy has been a flight attendant for over 29 years. His experience began with legacy Continental, volunteering for Reserve Scheduling rules 27 years ago. There was no contract on the property and reserve flight attendants were being scheduled and flown under fuzzy parameters. He was then appointed as a one man reserve committee reporting back to the main union office some of the abuses reserve FA’s were receiving. Within a year,  he was appointed Grievance Committee Chair for their small LAX flight attendant base. For nearly eight years, he filed and processed grievances at the first and second step of the grievance procedure, conducted informational meetings for the flight attendants, attended executive council meetings, and assisted in merging their tiny independent union with the IAMAW.

From producing and writing for newsletters, to conducting meetings, and processing grievances, Timothy has been front and center assisting FA’s on a personal basis at the domicile level for much of my career. He has always been a union activist and supporter of union activities on behalf of flight attendants. He believes that by speaking with one voice while acting in concert, we have power. Education of all members, especially our newer members, is key for AFA and its future. Timothy believes that having a diverse group of representatives for this Local Executive Council with varying seniorities, from different pre merger airlines with different levels of experience, will help build a council that is representative of all flight attendants domiciled at LAX.

TImothy's experience will provide context from his pre-merger background and provide understanding with various sections of our new contract which emanated from the legacy Continental contract. He looks forward to working with a great team of United Flight Attendants, and believes that with an attitude of “roll up our sleeves let’s get the work done,” we have the ability to lead our council forward to make all United Flight Attendants at LAX proud.
